Who They Are

While human children were told stories of boogeymen and monsters under the bed, these Lost met the darkness and the darkness smiled back. There is no screaming in the dark — it is a cold, quiet place where fear reigns and silence is filled with untold mysteries. Darklings are not inherently malicious. They simply see the ugly, cold truth that lives in the darkest dreams, and they know more than they will ever tell.

Starting Attribute Priorities

Category Priority Starting Points

Social Tertiary 3 points

Seeming Contracts

Level 1 is shown below; Levels 2–5 escalate in cost and power — ask your Mentor for the full progression packet.

Contract Level 1 Effect Catch
Darkness ● Eyes in the Dark — sees perfectly in natural darkness; supernatural darkness grants +2 Perception dice instead of penalizing. Always active. None required — always active.
Smoke ● Whisper Step — moves in complete silence regardless of surface or footwear. No roll needed for movement noise. Free (automatic) when moving through a previously-visited space.
Cursing ● Ill Feeling — touch leaves a subtle impression of misfortune; the target's next roll of the day is at +1 difficulty. Free against someone who lied to the Darkling in the last scene.

Blessing & Curse

Blessing: Shadow Walker Curse: Light Sensitive
Undetectable by mundane means while in shadow — no camera, sensor, or ordinary perception registers them. Supernatural detection difficulty rises by the Darkling's Wyrd. Natural night vision. -2 penalty to all attack rolls in strong natural or technological light (magical light doesn't trigger this). Genuine discomfort in brightly lit spaces.
