Vampire
The Reborn — Children of Lilith, Not of Caine
When Caine awoke and walked into Oblivion, he attempted to drag all vampirekind with him. Lilith intervened. Every vampire of that age was given a choice: accept rebirth through Lilith's covenant and become Lilum, or follow Caine into the dark. Those who chose rebirth survived. Those who did not are gone.
In-world, characters may call themselves Vampire, Kindred, or Lilum interchangeably — all are accurate. Lilum retain the core nature of vampires — the hunger, the night, the Blood — but carry Lilith's mark rather than Caine's curse. The old Sects (Camarilla, Sabbat, Anarch) no longer exist. The Factions have replaced them entirely.
The Six Common Bloodlines
| Bloodline | Nature |
|---|---|
| Ventrue | Lords of will and command. Survivors by nature, leaders by instinct — gravitate toward the Ashen Court. |
| Toreador | Artists, sensualists, and obsessives. They find beauty even in the broken world and use it as both shield and weapon. |
| Malkavian | Seers touched by madness — or wisdom so vast it looks like madness. Their insight is invaluable; their stability is not guaranteed. |
| Gangrel | Survivors above all else. Closer to beast than any other bloodline — thrived during the decade of animal regression in ways others cannot imagine. |
| Nosferatu | Monstrous in form, indispensable in function. They know every secret in the Basilica because no one watches what they cannot bear to look at. |
| True Brujah | Philosophers and warriors of cold, precise fury. Unlike their extinct Brujah cousins, they never succumb to frenzy — they choose their violence deliberately. |
Other bloodlines may be submitted as Rare applications. Your background must explain in detail how your vampire survived the Culling, why they chose Lilith's covenant, and how they came to be in Basilica Purgatory.
Strengths of Being Lilum
- Blood Healing — Spend 1 Blood Point to heal 1 Bashing health level, or 2 to heal 1 Lethal level. Aggravated damage requires a full night's rest plus 5 Blood Points.
- The Third Awakening — Characters embraced before Gehenna who chose Lilith's covenant receive a one-time free reroll during their first full session, representing the clarity of rebirth.
- Unnatural Toughness — All Bashing damage is halved (round down).
- The Beast — Lilum retain access to frenzy. Controlled frenzy (Willpower expenditure, difficulty 8) adds 2 dice to all Physical pools for its duration.
Weaknesses of Being Lilum
- Sunlight — Direct sunlight deals 1 Aggravated damage per turn; indirect sunlight deals 1 Lethal per turn.
- Fire — Deals Aggravated damage as always.
- The Daysleep — Lilum are effectively dead during daylight unless awakened by danger. Forced wakefulness costs 1 Blood Point per hour.
- Blood Dependency — Reaching 0 Blood Points triggers immediate hunger frenzy.
- Vitae Bonding — Three consecutive feedings from the same Lilum creates a full Blood Bond.
- Stake Through the Heart — Renders a Lilum immobile, not destroyed.
House Rules
- No Sects exist. Don't reference Camarilla, Sabbat, or Anarch structures as active organizations in your background.
- The Blood still functions — Disciplines, the Hunger, and the need for blood are unchanged from core rules unless otherwise noted.
- Lilum may feed on any living being but must maintain the Veil. Exposure while feeding is a serious violation.
- Caine and his direct childer are gone. Don't write Antediluvians into your background as active characters.
