The Timeline
The World
History in Requiem by Night exists in layers. What humans know is partial and rationalized by the Consensus. What supernaturals know is fuller, filtered through two centuries of oral tradition and political agenda. The current year is 200 TE (2278 CE).
The Road to the End (CE)
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 2025 CE | Fall of Clan Tremere. The Vienna headquarters of Clan Tremere is raided; the clan collapses — the first major supernatural institution to fall to human technological advancement. |
| 2033–2050 CE | The Cyber Revolution. A massive, anonymous leak of advanced technology and science reshapes computing, AI, robotics, and cybernetics almost overnight. |
| 2037 CE | The Gehenna War Begins. Elder Vampires worldwide are drawn to the Middle East, falling into conflict over the ruins of Megiddo. |
| 2041 CE | Atean Syndrome. The Dreaming, overwhelmed by banality, seals off its power. Fae beings die en masse. Humanity suffers a global epidemic of insomnia, lost creativity, and nihilistic despair. |
| 2047 CE | The RedDawn Supervirus / The Crash of '47. A weaponized computer virus corrupts global trade markets, triggering a worldwide depression. |
| 2060–2068 CE | The War of Ruination (World War Three). A tangled web of corporate alliances and defense pacts drags the developed world into humanity's first and only nuclear war. |
| 2068 CE | The Sundering Begins. Los Angeles is erased outright. A chain reaction of hyperextreme weather, volcanic and tectonic catastrophe, and rising oceans follows for two decades. |
| 2068 CE | Death of Gaia the Elder. All Changing Breeds vanish with her; the ecosystem collapses in a mass extinction. |
| 2071 CE | The Return of Caine. Caine ends the Gehenna War, destroys the Methuselahs and Antediluvians, then leaps into Oblivion. Lilith intervenes, offering every vampire rebirth as Lilum. |
| 2074 CE | Luna's Sacrifice. Luna binds the Wyrm into an enchanted slumber at the cost of her own freedom, and vanishes from the sky. |
| 2074 CE | The Great Wyrdstorm. With Gaia and Luna gone, the Dreaming's repressed energies erupt across the earth — the source of most anomalies that still plague the world. |
The Turning Point — 0 TE
Eshtarra's Ascension. Gaia the Elder's herald harnesses the raw possibility of the Great Wyrdstorm and ascends to become Gaia the Younger — the first and only spirit to reach Celestine rank. She remakes the Garou as the Gaian Shifters and restores what remains of humanity.
The Initialization of the God-Machine. In the same year, the God-Machine comes online, announcing itself to the surviving supernaturals and decreeing that humanity's new Consensus reality must be upheld.
